Composer/songwriter Larry Goldings (b. 1968 Boston, Massachusetts) began piano lessons when he was nine, and later concentrated on the Hammond organ. Over the years he has accompanied such major stars as Tracy Chapman, Norah Jones, Christina Aguilera, Elton John, James Taylor, and Maceo Parker, as well as jazz giants Herbie Hancock and John Scofield. Larry Goldings’ trio with guitarist Peter Bernstein and drummer Bill Stewart has been labeled »the best organ trio of the last decade« by the New York Times. Jazztimes marveled that their Pirouet album Ramshackle Serenade »…is another memorable outing from one of current jazz’s finest small groups.« Goldings’ compositions have been recorded by the likes of John Scofield, Jim Hall, and Michael Brecker. His numerous writing credits grace such films as Space Cowboys, and the TV series The Office.
